AUDIO MP3: Common ft. Stevie Wonder – Black America Again (Full Version)

Common shares the full version of his powerful new single “Black America Again.”

Common shared a politically-charged video for his single “Black America Again,” earlier this week, which included the difficult-to-watch footage of Alton Sterling’s shooting. In the song, he addresses the race issues within America that have led to this type of injustice, but it turns out, there’s more to the song, as he has revealed with the release of the full 6-minute version today.

Another verse from Common is included, and there’s a powerful behind-the-scenes, with bass provided by Esperanza Spalding, ad-libs by Chuck D and MC Lyte, and production from Karriem Riggins and Robert Glasper. Of course, the one-and-only Stevie Wonder is credited as a feature for his vocal contribution.

The song is set to appear on the Chicago rapper’s forthcoming album, also titled Black America Again.

Quotable Lyrics:
Hot damn, Black America again
Think of Sandra Bland as I’m staring in the wind
The color of my skin, they comparing it to sin
The darker it gets, the less fairer it has been
The hate the hate made, I inherited it from them
But I ain’t gon’ point the finger, we got annointed singers
Like Nina, Marvin, Billy, Stevie
Need to hear them songs sometimes to believe me
